Last weekend we sold a brand new shiny black Vespa GTS 250 Super to a cool guy named Warren. Today, Warren sent us an email with several photos attached of his new ride arriving in Carrollton. Warren writes:

“I am enjoying the heck out of my new Italian mistress. I am still trying to think of a good name for her.”

We got two photo’s from Warren, one of the new Vespa getting ready to be unloaded from his truck. The other photo is from a ride Warren took, parked at the confluence of the Kentucky and Ohio rivers at Point Park in Carrollton.

Thanks for the photo’s Warren, thanks for your business, and we are glad your enjoying the new ride! We hope to get together and do some riding with you this summer.

With the big Attus Warehouse Sale going on out here at Vespa Lexington, you probably won’t see too much blogging going on this weekend. While I do have a sec I wanted to share with you a press release we got last night from Piaggio USA. The press release talks about some great product placement Vespa will have in the upcoming Paramount Pictures movie: I Love You, Man, starring Paul Rudd (Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Virgin) and Jason Segel (Knocked Up, Forgetting Sarah Marshall). I guess these guys will be doing some riding on a Vespa LXV. Can’t wait to check it out. Due to A.D.D. I did not read the full press release thoroughly but there might be some kind of a contest involved.

In the world of sales, nothing makes it easier to sell than a great product. It also helps when you have a great story behind the great product your selling. One of the things I love most about offering, selling, and servicing the Piaggio and Vespa brand of scooters is the amazing story and history behind the brand. Unlike a lot of the fly by night scooter companies on the market, there is no company that comes close to having the history that Vespa has. It’s a great piece of mind when making a purchase, simply because you know your not only getting a great product, but your getting a great company that’s going to stand behind the product. You definitely are not going to find people selling Vespa scooters in their front yards.

Piaggio was founded in 1884 by Rianaldo Piaggio. During the late 1800’s Piaggio was manufacturing luxury ship fittings, rail carriages, goods vans, luxury coaches and engines, trams & special truck bodies. During World War 1 the company started producing aeroplanes and seaplanes.

In 1943 towards the end of the second World War, Piaggio started production on it’s first motor-scooters with the idea of offering the widest possible market a low cost product. In 1946 the Vespa (which means “Wasp” in Italian) was born, and the rest is history. Sixty six years later here Vespa Lexington sits, offering Kentuckians the most iconic and highest quality scooter ever made.

Luckily Lexington’s most talented photographer Mr. David Coyle was on hand to snap a few photos of Jason and his girlfriend at the game.

Our main man Micheal is off to California on Sunday for a weeks worth of technical service training for Vespa and Piaggio scooters. While Michael is just a young Jedi Padawan heading to California, we hope he returns as a Jedi Master. While Michael is off to training, I will be holding down the fort for the next week, so if you need anything please don’t hesitate to call or stop by.

We got a press release a few weeks ago from Piaggio USA discussing a partnership for co-branding between Vespa and the clothing brand Lacoste. I believe the partnership includes some Vespa product placement in several Lacoste advertisements, the placement of Vespa scooters in Lacoste boutiques, and the give away of a brand new 2009 Vespa S 50. Initially I thought the only way to register to win, was through select Lacoste boutiques in larger markets, which Lexington does not have and why would we when we have the incredibly cool local brand of polo’s from Attus Apparel. Yesterday, I was checking out the Lacoste website and discovered you could actually register online to win the new Vespa S50. Your chances of winning are probably slim to none, but it’s always worth a try. So if your interested in registering to win you can do so here.

Vespa has also done some product collaborations with the Adidas Originals line this year, so it’s great to see Vespa getting it’s brand out there with other brands like Lacoste and Adidas.
