I just ran across an article about a chain of bars in the United Kingdom called Revolution Vodka Bars (there are 57 Revolution Bars in the UK), that offers select patrons free Margherita Pizza’s on different week days between 3pm and 5pm. On Mondays, pregnant women get free pizza, on Tuesdays, Italians get free pizza w/ passport, on Wednesdays members of the University Society eating in groups of 4 eat for free, on Thursdays, those who own an Italian car can eat for free by showing their keys, and on friday VESPA owners can eat for free when they show their keys.
I think it is pretty awesome that they offer free pizza to Vespa owners just for showing their keys. What business would not want a fleet of Vespa scooters or Italian cars parked out in front of their establishments. Think about all the attention all those beautiful Vespa scooters would draw. While Vespa Lexington can’t make any promises, we are definitely going to try and find some nice eating establishments here in Lexington that will offer us scooterist both a nice meet up joint, and maybe a free meal or a hefty discount one night out of the week. With warmer weather on the way, we think a weekly meet up for food,drink, and scooter talk would be a heck of a lot of fun. I have been on Vespa USA’s website a bunch of different times, and I keep running across more and more cool new features. The latest site feature that made an impression on me was the VESPA VS. AUTO comparison. It basically lets you compare the miles per gallon you would achieve riding a new Vespa vs. driving a car or an SUV. Parking in downtown Lexington and on the University of Kentucky’s campus can be quite the pain in the rear at times. I actually dread visiting some places downtown and on campus due to the lack of parking. Nothing worse than driving around and around on one way streets on the quest for a good parking spot, and what about those folks that like to park in the middle of two spaces? Sometimes I wish I had a good bulldozer so I could just plow my way into those spaces. How about those new LEXPARK Outriders? Those guys and gals sure are sneaky, sometimes I think those new Outrider three wheeled chariots have a super sneaky stealth button that makes them invisible.

Right in time for the sweet weather arriving this weekend we just got in five brand new 2009 Vespa Scooters. Lots of great colors and styles, including the all new 2009 Vespa S 50 (Best in class 50cc available). The following arrived today: 2009 Vespa LX 150 in Dragon Red, 2009 Vespa LX 150 in Midnight Blue, a 2009 Vespa GTS 250 i.e. in Dragon Red, a Vespa S 50 in the Taormina Orange, and a Vespa S 50 in the Dragon Red.

One of the nice things about having a scooter joint, is getting meet all the other scooter enthusiast here in Kentucky. We had a nice visit this morning from a guy named Daniel Graham, a Professor of Sculpture at Georgetown College. Daniel has been in the process of restoring a 1982 (hope I got the year right) Vespa PK 50. He picked this Vespa up at a junk yard, and has been totally restoring it from scratch, doing EVERYTHING him self. He pointed us to his blog, where he has been keeping a journal of the restoration process. If your into vintage scooters and restoration his blog a definite must read, it’s pretty amazing what he done with his PK50. Just found out thanks to Autobloggreen , that Consumer Reports is now including testing for both scooters and motorcycles for the first time since 1981. Not surprisingly they chose the Vespa LX 50 as their top choice for the 50cc class of scooters, and they also chose the Vespa LX 150 as their top choice for the 150cc class of scooters. For some odd reason for the 250cc class and higher they only tested motorcycles. I am sure when they test the scooters in the 250cc class the Vespa will be their top choice.
