Big Thanks!

Just wanted to thank and congratulate Kirk for his recent purchase of a new 2009 Piaggio BV 500. To Piaggio the BV stands for “Beverly” but to Kirk the BV stands for “Big Vito”. In fact there will be not one but two “Big Vito’s” roaming the streets of Lexington and beyond. Kirk’s buddy and another Vespa Lexington customer, Danny has a “Big Vito” 500 as well. I am certain you will see these bad boy 500cc Piaggio’s on the streets of Lex, cause Kirk and Danny are pretty hard-core about riding!

Parking a new Vespa or Piaggio in your garage could put some extra money in your pocket!

The benefits of owning a new scooter just keep getting better and better. Lets see; you can get up to 90 mpg (they say gas will be at $3 by memorial day), lower your emissions, have more fun, play your part in decreasing traffic congestion, and now you can get a TAX BREAK for parking a new two or three wheeled Vespa or Piaggio scooter in your garage! We just got a press release from Piaggio discussing the new tax break for new scooter purchases in the US Governments recently approved stimulus package:

The law, officially designated as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, allows buyers of “qualified motor vehicles” to take a tax deduction for state or local sales or excise tax imposed on the purchase, up to $49,500 of the purchase price. The deduction applies to NEW purchases made between February 17 and December 31, 2009, and taxpayers do not need to itemize to claim it.

Key Tax Break Points

• Vehicles eligible for the tax deduction are all on-road two and three wheeled vehicles weighing less than 8,500 pounds and is limited to the tax on up to $49,500 of the purchase price

• The deduction applies to vehicles purchased between February 17, 2009 – Dec. 31, 2009

• Only new on-road two- or three-wheeled motorcycles or scooters are eligible

• The tax deduction is for state or local sales or excise tax imposed on the purchase

• Single taxpayers with an adjusted gross income over $125,000 and married tax payers with an adjusted gross income over $250,000 are not eligible

• The law also includes a new 10 percent tax credit, up to $2,500 for motorcycles (two or three-wheeled vehicles) with electric motors manufactured primarily for use on public streets, roads and highways purchased by December, 2011

So your ready to buy a new Vespa or Piaggio scooter, now what?

You have made a wise decision by visiting the Vespa Lexington website. You have either already purchased a new Vespa or Piaggio scooter, or you are considering the purchase of a new Vespa or Piaggio scooter.  It’s a wise choice because your ready to increase your gas mileage, and decrease your carbon footprint. You have read the incredible reviews our scooters have gotten, and the consumer report ratings. You know that Vespa scooters have the highest resale value of anything on the market, you know the name and know the companies rich history. You have incredible taste, and are looking to have more fun while commuting.

If your considering making the purchase or are ready to make the purchase, buying a new Vespa or Piaggio scooter is a easy and painless process. Here are the 6 easy steps to making your dream a reality:

Step 1) Visit Vespa Lexington. Come on in and let us know your wants, needs, budget, and style. We will be more than happy to help you discover the scooter thats right for you. From a 50cc to a 500cc, and over 15 different styles/models of Vespa and Piaggio scooters available, we are bound to have the perfect ride for you.

2) Register your Vespa. Unless your looking to purchase a 50cc scooter, you are going to need to have your new scooter registered with the DMV. Don’t worry, Vespa Lexington will take care of all of the necessary paperwork and even make the trip downtown to have your new Vespa or Piaggio scooter registered with the state.

3)Take your permit test. Unless you plan to purchase a 50cc scooter, in the State of Kentucky you will need to have either your motorcycle license or a learners permit. You can take a quick 20 minute test, get your learners permit, and legally ride your new scooter.

4) Sign up to take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class, or complete a road test. If you have never driven a motorcycle or scooter, then we highly recommend you take the three day MSF safety class. We do have literature on the class at Vespa Lexington, and if you have any questions, Michael has taken the class and will be happy to provide you with any information.

5)Insure your new Vespa or Piaggio scooter. Just like a car, you need to have insurance on your new scooter. Don’t worry, it’s really inexpensive and we can point you in the right direction for finding a good quote.

6)Twist and Go! All of our new Vespa and Piaggio scooters are super easy to operate. Everything we carry has a CVT automatic twist and go transmission. You just sit down, turn a key, hit the electric starter, twist and go. Vespa Lexington has a number of demo models available for test rides, and we are always more than happy to take as much time as it takes to teach a customer how to ride.  Once you take delivery of your new scooter, your gonna have a blast!

This Vespbear is amazing!

Maybe you have seen the really cool prints we have hanging in Vespa Lexington with the militant Rhino and Bear riding a Vespa one with a assault rifle slung over his shoulder and one with skulls hanging off the back off his vintage Vespa? Or maybe you have seen our Rocketworld blog post we had a month or so ago? Regardless, I am a big fan of these Rocketworld toys and prints. I just ran across a blog post on Toycyte with images of this incredible work of art by London based artist and designer Chris Rose for an upcoming art show at Rocketworld in San Francisco. Make sure and read the background story of how Vespbear was conceived in the Toycyte blog post, it’s pretty entertaining.

“Be green, save some green, and make others green with envy”

If you follow our blog then you have read about Vespa USA’s new website, and you have also read about Vespanomics. For some reason, I got to checking out Vespa Canada’s website, which is totally different than the Vespa USA website. Instead of the Vespanomics platform, the Canadian site had a platform called EnviroVespa which has this really cool and quite colorful interactive website which can be seen here. The site contains flying Vespa scooters, little Vespa bee’s, rainbows, talking tree’s, and a little guy dressed as a bee that fly’s around buzzing about how riding Vespa scooters benefit the environment.

“Driving a Vespa is kind to the environment and your wallet. A Vespa is twice as efficient as a small sedan and is over 7 times more efficient than some large SUVs.”

Check out both the Vespanomics platform and the EviroVespa platform to see why owning a Vespa scooter has it’s benefits. Plus with $0 down/ $0 payments/ 0 Interest for 6 months it’s a great time to buy now and pay later w/ approved credit of course!
