Vespa Lexington

Vespa Lexington would like to extend a BIG THANKS to all those that came out to our first cook-out of the year. We were amazed at the number of people that came out. We were also amazed at how full our parking lot was with new scooters, vintage scooters, motorcycles, toy scooters, and good people! It really looks like central Kentucky is going to have one strong scooter scene blossoming. It was awesome to see everyone out here, talking scooters and having a good time. That’s what we want our shop to be all about, central Kentucky’s hub for scooter enthusiast. We took some photos which some of them can be viewed below and on our Flickr account.

Another highlight of the event was a special guest appearance by Lexington’s own scooter celebrity Chad Walker. Beginning May 15, Chad will be riding a pink Aprilia SR 50 scooter (named The Hooter Scooter) from San Francisco to Boston in an effort to raise money for breast cancer research. A couple years back Chad rode a motorcycle from here to Alaska and back, so he is no stranger to long distanced 2 wheel adventures. In addition to making the trek from San Francisco to Boston on a 50cc scooter, Chad plans on attempting to break the Guinness World Record for “Longest Distance Traveled in 24 Hours on a 50cc Scooter.” The current record stands at 732 miles. Walker will need to drive an average speed of 31 miles-per-hour for 24 hours straight if he hopes to reach his 750 mile goal. Vespa Lexington will be cheering Chad on and so should you.
