So cool, I just ran across an article about the very famous actor Leo DiCaprio riding around NYC on his new Vespa GTS 300 Super. Leo apparently has great taste because the new 300 is such a killer scooter, stylish and fast (remember the review of the 300 Super in the LA Times). The kind folks over at the Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Lexington Green have been kind enough to let us place one of our beautiful Vespa LX 150s in the Capri Blue in it’s enormously awesome bookstore. In addition to having the Vespa on the floor at Joseph-Beth’s they will also have a table set up with Italian themed books including a Vespa book. How cool is that! I was just in Stuart Florida this last weekend and popped into a Barnes & Noble bookstore and they had a table that was nothing but Vespa books and gifts, but unfortunately there was not an actual Vespa on the floor.
In addition to having a new Vespa at Joseph Beth, we have a number of other events lined up for Vespa Lexington and our fleet of beautiful Vespa, Piaggio, and SYM scooters. Next weekend we will be auctioning off a new Vespa LX 50 at the KET Summer Celebration 2009 on June 5th and on Sunday June 7th we will be setting up camp at the very fun Kenwick Bungalow Tour (my house will actually be on the tour). We are going to be encouraging all you wonderful scooterist out there to scoot over to Kenwick that weekend for the bungalow tour (last year they had like 600 people come out), it’s a lot of fun. Big thanks to Dave who works with my wife at Cornett-IMS, for his recent donation of an older Sears Allstate Puch scooter. The Puch two-strokes from Austria were sold by Sears-Roebuck of Chicago from the 1950s to at least 1979 under the Sears Allstate label. Sears also sold Vespa scooters from Italy during that time under the same brand, Allstate. Like the Vespa the Puch also has a steel frame. We are not 100% sure but we think this little stray Puch is probably from the mid-60’s. The Puch should make a fun little shop toy for Vespa Lexington, once we get in running of course. I love a good bag, and am particularly fond of Filson Bags. I own a Filson large computer bag which has been my go to for a long time. We just wanted to thank everyone that joined us on the Thursday night ride from Vespa Lexington over to Stella’s for dinner. Michael said the ride/dinner was a blast. Looks like we had 12 or 13 scooters on the ride over to Stella’s, and had a whopping 19 scooters at Stella’s for dinner. Being that the ride took place the Thursday before Memorial Day weekend, we had a ton of people that let us know they could not make it but will definitely be down for the next ride. I think for future rides we can get it up to 30-40+ scooters, imagine how cool that would be! Speaking of future rides, we are going to try and plan something for next week, so stay tuned into the Vespa Lexington blog and if we have your number or email expect us to get in touch with you soon.

For it’s 100th anniversary Fred Perry has collaborated with Piaggio to create a limited run of Fred Perry Vespa scooters. The Fred Perry clothing company has long been associated with the British Mod scene, so the Fred Perry X Vespa collaboration comes as no surprise. Looks like the scooters are going to be available in a very limited run of 100 scooters to be offered in Europe, Japan, and the USA sometime in August. We are loving the details of the Fred Perry edition Vespa, especially the seat.
