With beautiful weather hitting the Bluegrass this week and gas prices on the rise, it’s a great time to get out and ride your scooter. It’s also a great time to buy a new scooter, save some cash and have a blast!

With all the rain we had during the first part of May it has been tough to try and plan any rides and another Vespa Lexington cook out. The forecast for this week is awesome, and we have decided it’s a good time to get everyone together for a Thursday night ride from Vespa Lexington down to Stella’s Kentucky Deli for some fun and some dinner. If you have not eaten at Stella’s it’s quite the treat, the food is incredible and Kentucky Proud. As an incentive, Les over at Stella’s said he would hook the group up with 2 for 1 beers!

If your schedule is free on Thursday night please meet us here at Vespa Lexington around 6-6:30. If you would rather just join us at Stella’s just plan on being there around 7:00. Just ran across the website and the Flickr group for the Los Vesparados Art Of The Scooter, an art show taking place in Minneapolis on June 13. 

“ an art show combining the cult-following of the scooter crowd with hip and varied styles of art from a line-up of over 25 local and international artists. The show will be composed of a variety of art, from paintings and inexpensive print editions to metal sculpture and jewelry; all based upon the theme of the scooter.” -Los Vesparados

You can check out some of the artwork in the Flickr pool here, and you can checkout the website for the actual art show here. Being both a fan of the Vespa scooters and a fan of some good artwork I would love to try and make it up for the show, we would love to get our hands on some good prints for the shop.

Vespa has had some serious product placement this year. As far as movies go first there was some Vespa riding in I Love You Man, and now there is going to be some Vespa riding in one of the years most anticipated films, Angels and Demons starring Tom Hanks and opening this weekend. I really liked the Da Vinci Code movie and my wife loves all of Dan Browns novels. I wouldn’t know about the books since I only read magazines, haha. When you making your to do list this weekend, make sure and put seeing Angels and Demons right under visiting Vespa Lexington to buy a new scooter. BTW have you noticed how gas prices keep jumping up? I heard oil went up $8 a barrel today. Gas will probably be hitting $3 a gallon before we know it. It’s going to be a great week at Vespa Lexington. Our SYM Symbas are on their way and we just got a shipment of three very cool new 2009 Vespa scooters in this morning. We got in two 2009 Vespa GTS 250’s one Midnight Blue and one Dragon Red. I love the GTS 250, such an incredible scooter! Towards the end of April we actually sold out of our 250 Vespas so it was perfect timing that we got these in today. In addition to the two 250’s we also got a pretty sweet 2009 Vespa LX 50 in the Yellow, great spring color. Thanks to the Dallas Observer I just ran across an article on Ska Brewing out of Durango, Colorado. During the late 50’s Ska music originated in Jamaica, and then in the 60’s became popular with the British Mods. While Ska music was the go to music for the mods, Vespa scooters were the go to transportation for the mods. Ska Brewing actually has a beer called True Blonde Ale that features a sexy blonde wearing a checkerboard mini skirt sitting a top a Vespa scooter. You gotta love that! Check out the very cool Ska Brewing website here and the True Blonde Ale below. I am really tempted to order me a Ska Brewing t-shirt, maybe they will trade me for some Attus.
