‘Where The Wild Things Are’ director Spike Jonze rides a Vespa!
I have yet to see the new movie ‘Where The Wild Things Are’, but it is very high on my list of priorities right now. I really want to take my two year old daughter to see the movie (you think she is too young?), I have been reading her the book all week and she is really digging the friendly ‘Wild Things’ monsters! It did take a few readings for her to warm up to the monsters in the book, but I have a feeling seeing the monsters on the big screen might be a little overwhelming for her. It’s crazy to think that a full feature move can be made from a eight page book. Regardless I am really looking forward to the movie.
Anyways a few months back I watched a short documentary on ‘Where The Wild Things Are’, it’s author Maurice Sendak, and it’s brilliant director Spike Jonze. In the documentary (you can watch it below), it shows what appears to be Spike Jonze on a Vespa scooter. I did not think much of it until I read a couple articles in USA Today, that refers to Spike’s Vespa;
“So why Jonze, a soft-spoken 39-year-old who tools around Southern California on a Vespa and is known as much for his music videos as his movies?” – Check out the full article at USA Today
“Still, 12-year-old Max Records, who makes his feature film debut as Max, insisted there were plenty of PG-13 antics on set. “We hoisted [Spike's] Vespa to the ceiling then covered him with yogurt and rice,” Records remembered. “That was fun.”"

I am a big fan of Spike Jonze’s work and loved finding out that he “tools around Southern California on a Vespa“. Keeping my fingers crossed I can actually see ‘Where The Wild Things Are’ on the big screen and not on DVD like most of the flicks I see these days (thanks father time).

I think Vespa USA needs to hire him to direct some Vespa commercials, that would be great
