Over the weekend I got a great email from Chuck over at Smiley Pete Publishing (home of the Chevy Chaser, the Southsider, and Business Lexington). The Vespa Lexington holiday ad that we ran last Nov & Dec recently won first place by the Kentucky Press Association in the Automotive Class for 2010 Advertising Excellence in Kentucky Newspapers. Big props to all the players in the creation of this ad; David Coyle for the photography, Drew & Chuck at Smiley Pete for the layout/design, and Vespa Lex for the concept. This ad was a ton of fun and I am already working on a concept for the next big Vespa Lexington ad!

The weather was absolutely perfect this past Saturday. Around 11 am a great group consisting of 10 scooterist left out of Vespa Lexington for a little group ride. Upon returning this is what a couple of the regulars had to say; “by far the best ride I’ve ever been on” and “best ride ever!”. Apparently everyone had a blast.
Anyone with a scooter or motorcycle is always welcome to join us on these rides, in fact the more the merrier. There are a number of ways to be alerted about future rides. “There’s an old Dire Straits song with the lyric, “Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug.” True enough. Many times we avid scooterists have been caught out when a storm blows in, or with a flat tire. Sometimes we go to a restaurant where the food ain’t so good. Those are the times we’re “the bug.” But not today.

There is a group ride leaving out of Vespa Lexington this Saturday morning. The group will be leaving Vespa Lexington around 11-11:30AM and traveling to Addies Creek Side Cafe in Frankfort for lunch. Apparently it’s an awesome scenic ride taking you through Fayette, Jessamine, Woodford, and Franklin county. This ride is also a great opportunity to take a peek at some of Kentucky’s famous bourbon distilleries.
