Registration for the 2011 AMERIVESPA is now open. This years rally will be held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, June 21-24. That’s only 450 miles away, about a 7 hour drive from Lexington. That’s the closest Amerivespa’s been in a long time. If your a Vespa-fanatic you need to go, you’ll have a blast! A few weekends ago 80+ scooters and scooterist invaded central Kentucky for the Circle 4 Scooter Club’s “Bridge On The River KY” scooter rally. The weather was a perfect 10, the ride was amazing, and an incredible time was had by all. A big huge thanks to all those involved in organizing this epic event. Our good buddy Carl Wagoner was nice enough to write up a long and creative re-cap for us. Check it out below…..

“Some time ago, an instant now faded into the mists of time, the scooter gods, from their lofty abode in the hills of Tuscany ordained that a wonderful moment should spring forth from the limestone springs of a gentle land far far away, a land whose first people called Kaintuck. It was thought desirable by the pantheon to create something new and wonderful there, something future generations would speak of with reverence and awe. Something to be spoken of only in hushed tones. So these gods spoke and a new creation came forth. But this thing that was to be could not be fashioned from any one place, not even a land as beautiful as Kaintuck, so it was decided that an assembly should occur. So these spirits put it into the souls of many to gather. And so they did.

The pilgrims came from many homes. From manicured lawns nearby, they set forth. From the plains and flatlands from the north they ventured forth. Down small highways through many towns they rolled, across the great river that flowed between the homelands. From the south they ventured, from the wilderness once tamed by Boone. From a city to the west, on the Falls of the Mighty Ohio they rode their steel on ribbons of asphalt. Eastward they moved, toward the rising sun and a day that would not soon be forgotten. More came from other places. They were called and they came, all of them. On different mounts they came. Some of the steeds were from the east from India, Taiwan, China, Japan. Some of the steel beasts hailed from the land Columbus found, some from his homeland. Like disparate cells of a new species, all of these, human and metal, were formed into a living organism that would embark on a great adventure as one.
